In addition to the Sabbath, God commanded the Jews to have periods of rest during the year - holidays, when Jews are not allowed to work, as well as foods that they can and cannot eat. For non-Jews, it is important to rest one of the seven days, even if it is not the Sabbath. Holidays are prophecies about events, some of which have already been fulfilled and some will still be fulfilled. The nation of Israel keeps these biblical holidays to this day. For example, the Jewish holiday of PASSOVER - a leap year, when the Jews were freed from slavery in Egypt and sacrificed a lamb so that the destroying angel who walked through Egypt would not kill them, but had to jump over their houses. They celebrate it every year and on this very day the Lamb - the Lord Jesus - was sacrificed, thus fulfilling the meaning of this holiday. Anyone who believes in His vicarious sacrifice for us and submits his life to Him will be saved from eternal damnation in hell. Regarding food, the Lord Jesus said that we can eat everything except the blood of animals. The foods prescribed for Jews are also for non-Jews a picture of what we take into our hearts with our eyes and ears.

16 Therefore let no one judge you in food and drink, or in respect of a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day. 17 These are a shadow of things to come, but the reality belongs to Christ.

Colossians 2:16-17

What goes into a man from outside cannot defile him? This was to prevent the entire society of Israel from falling into rebellion and thus under God's judgment. God is Holy - Perfect and dwells in a huge fire of love. Everything in His presence is revealed and evil will burn in His fire.

For us, this means respect for the authorities in individual states, which are entrusted by God with this judgment and punishment. It is up to individual governments and subsequently judges to respect God's laws.

God does not want criminals to perish, but to enter into themselves, to correct themselves and to be able to live through the grace of God. The well-known story of the woman who was caught in adultery, they wanted to stone her according to God's law and brought her to Jesus. He said: "Let him who is without sin be the first to throw a stone." When she was left alone and everyone left, he said: "Has no one condemned you? Neither do I condemn you, go and sin no more." God presents himself to us as righteous, who rewards good and punishes evil, but is gracious to the broken.
